Prepare one set of parcel details
- Destination country or region and postcode.
- Actual contents, quantities and any restricted item types.
- Weight including the packaging.
- Outer carton length, width and height in the required units.
Use the same information for each quote. If the items are not packed yet, mark the estimate as provisional and obtain final measurements before payment.
Understand the weight being charged

| Chargeable weight | The weight used for billing after that route’s comparison and rounding rules. |
For a line that explicitly uses centimetres, kilograms and a divisor of 6,000, a 40 × 30 × 30 cm carton gives 6 kg dimensional weight. If its actual weight is 4 kg and the line bills the greater figure, it starts from 6 kg before rounding. Your line may use different rules.
For several items, compare consolidated and separate packing plans using their own measurements.
Compare the full route quote
Record the route name, chargeable weight, final payable amount, tracking coverage, restrictions and estimated delivery window. Compare the same insurance and packing options. A lower starting rate can cost more once parcel size and services are applied.
Keep freight separate from other payments using the full cost breakdown. Check destination charges and clearance requirements rather than assuming they are included.
Review the submission amount
Packaging can change weight and size. An estimate can include coupon discounts and is not a fixed invoice. Review the final parcel submission amount, discount and selected services. Keep the submitted quote and payment record with the tracking number. Delivery windows are estimates rather than guaranteed arrival dates.
